Our operations, business units and products

Transat, through its business units, is active in four business segments. For further information on our operations and business units:

  • Air transportation

Air Transat is Canada’s number one leisure airline. It flies to international destinations in the Americas and Europe, and offers domestic and connecting flights within Canada, and carries some 5 million passengers every year. Based in Montreal, it has 5,000 employees.

Air Transat’s air capacity is marketed mainly by its sister company Transat Tours Canada, which also handles customer service. Outside Canada, TTC markets Air Transat flights through internal and external sales agencies and the airtransat.com website.

Air Transat has been a member airline of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since 2008. It holds an Enhanced IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) accreditation. The program comprises more than 900 internationally recognized standards applicable to management, flight operations, operational control, aircraft maintenance, cabin operations, ground handling, cargo operations, and security.

  • Outgoing tour operators

The role of the outgoing tour operators is to purchase tourism services from thousands of internal and external partners around the world in order to “assemble” products which are subsequently distributed and marketed to consumers in their respective countries. As they obtain these services (airline seats, hotel stays, excursions, car rentals, etc.) in large quantities, our tour operators are able offer an exceptional price/quality ratio. They are multi-talented experts: they know the destinations, are able to attract the best partners and are attuned to travellers' needs.

  • Destination services

Destination services providers offer a broad range of products for customers of outgoing tour operators: hospitality and representation, passenger transfers, excursions, tours, sports and other activities, and specialty services (destination weddings, teambuilding, etc.).

  • Retail distribution

Retail distribution consists of providing advice to travellers and selling consumer products. This can be done through travel agency networks, websites, call centres or a combination of the three. Transat favours a multi-channel distribution system, which ensures that several distribution strategies work together smoothly. Although Transat has its own networks, its products are also available through a series of third parties.
