Transat taking the Pan Am Games to new heights

Montreal, July 13, 2015 — Air Transat’s July 8th flight from Punta Cana to Toronto transported some pretty precious cargo; namely, 225 members of the Pan American Games’ delegation from the Dominican Republic. The Pan Am Games are the world’s third largest international multi-sport games after the Olympic Summer Games and the Asian Games.

The first Pan American Games were held in 1951 and the Dominican Republic’s first participation in the Games came in 1955. Dominican sprinter Luguelin Santos who won silver in the men’s 400 metres event at the 2012 Olympic Summer Games is widely expected to bring home a medal at the 2015 Pan Am Games.

The Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games are expected to welcome over 6000 athletes from 41 nations who will compete in 36 sports. The Games started July 10th and will run until July 26th.

Air Transat flies from Toronto to Punta Cana five times a week from November to December and nine times a week from December to April.

Air Transat and its employees wish all participants good luck.
