MONTREAL, August 24
Following the incident this morning involving Air Transat flight TS 236, Transport Canada has informed the company that it will conduct an extended-range twin-engine operations standards (ETOPS) audit on its three Airbus A330 aircraft. This audit is a standard procedure and Air Transat will offer its full co-operation.
It is important to note that this initiative by Transport Canada in no way questions Air Transat's operations; all flights are operating as usual.Only Air Transat's three Airbus A330 aircraft will now maintain the 60 minute rule rather than 120 minutes. Air Transat notes that this measure is also a normal and usual procedure in this type of circumstance. Once again, this measure in no way affects the scheduling of Air Transat's fleet of 24 aircraft.
